36.2 Software: Sound API

Sound API

Open AL (AL – Audio Library) is an interface software which allows programmers to produce high-end audio output. It is designed for multi-channel outputs for 3D sound sources and the platform allows can be used anywhere as it used syntax which is the same as OpenGL to function. Open AL allows audio to be generated within 3D space. This means that it gives the user a different perspective and experience as by imitating 3D space using audio adds the doppler effect by making use of sound frequencies. For gaming, this allows the experience to be like Virtual Reality.

The Java sound API is a type of low-level API which controls the input and output of sound media which includes audio and MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) data. The API provides total control over the capability which were required for sound input and output in a framework which promotes the system to be better and to be extended and flexibility.
